Have I mentioned before how I love the spring and summer months in Spokane? After a long, cold winter, I truly appreciate how green and beautiful the landscape gets! I love spending time in the yard – just enjoying being outside is such a treat! Here are a few pictures of our back yard, where we love spending as much time as possible during the warm summer months!
Farmhouse Guestroom Update!
I wanted to update this guestroom a bit, but didn’t want to spend a lot of money. The brass and rod iron queen bed is about 30 plus years old, and back in the day was really cute! I still didn’t mind the style and lines of the headboard and footboard, but I knew it needed to be updated, somehow! So, I purchased a few cans of black spray paint at the local hardware store, cleaned and lightly sanded the brass a bit, and in an afternoon, had a whole new look to the bed! I changed out the comforter and dust ruffle, added a few new pillows that I was using elsewhere in my house, bought some simple “sheer” curtain panels for the window and added a few new accessories! I love the end results of my new farmhouse guestroom!

After photo. Love how it turned out! It’s a “feel good” space!
Incidentally, here is a picture of the original room when we first bought the house – it has gone thru a few transformations since this picture was taken!
One Brush Stroke at a Time!
Painting a piece of furniture in your home is a really quick and inexpensive way to completely change up a look! It’s amazing what a little paint can do to redefine a piece of furniture you already own! As seen from the photos below, the barn red cabinets were nice, however, I absolutely love the black and wish I would have painted the cabinets black a long time ago!

Love, love, love the black cabinets now!
After photo – the black paint totally updated the cabinets!
